It also follows a 20th-century British coining tradition by depicting male monarchs without a crown.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2024 10 oz Silver Tudor Dragon Coins features the Red Dragon of Wales. The dragon is depicted seated with its wings raised, clutching a shield. This shield bears the Beaufort Portcullis badge.
History
King Henry VIII helped emphasize the Red Dragon of Wales as a symbol of the Tudor Dynasty. Henry VIII is famous for his six marriages. His wives were, in order: Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. Two of these marriages (to Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard) ended in execution.
